I recently bought a pattern to make an appliqued lilly pilly tree. Then, thinking that I might have bitten off more than I can chew, I discovered on the website of the pattern maker, a free pattern for an applique cushion which I thought would be a good trial run for the larger project.
I used hand applique for this piece, but I think I will use machine applique on the next project, otherwise it will be a very long-term project indeed.
Having said that I really enjoyed the hand sewing and when it was finished I decided to give it to Little A and so I added the letter A in the bottom right hand corner.
Despite the trial run, I am still a little apprehensive about the lilly pilly tree and hope I can do it justice.
