Sculptures by the sea 2011

We have been to this year's Sculptures by the Sea at Cottesloe Beach. Here is a small sample of the many wonderful sculptures. We had fun naming them ourselves so the names here are not the official ones, rather they are our interpretation.

Waiting for a set (As in set of waves. Melissa & Stewart know the surfing terminology.)

Long hot summer (ain't that the truth!)

Love is in the air

Nest of triangles

Horizon (I think this is also the official title)

Hot air balloons

Sea enemy (Again the official title and a clever play on the words sea anemone. This is my favourite because it is a good reminder of the damage we are doing to marine life with our plastic rubbish.)

Toy town

Red man

Sand shoes

Pleading for rain

Ships of the sea

Indian temples (We called them Indian temples until we realised that at the right angle they cleverly line up with and look like the pylon in the water.)

Wave power (Only because I know (inside information) that these are constructed from turbines used to generate wave power.)

As I said, these are just a small sample of so many creative works. I had to make two visits to appreciate them all.

How marvellous - and your choice of titles is excellent! Thanks for showing them!
