Overseas trip

I cannot think of any good excuses why I have not blogged for so long, other than that I have been busy and have not been able to find much time to sit at the computer. I have, however, been on an 'overseas' trip since I last blogged. Together with mum and our very good friend Connie, I have been to Rottnest Island. Rottnest is a small island about 10 kms off the coast of Perth and it takes about 30 minutes on the ferry to get there. I have always thought that if you let your imagination go, you could almost be on a Greek island when you are on Rottnest. Okay, you have to have a good imagination, but it is not that dissimilar. The climate is the same, ie mediterranean, the water is the same azure colour,

and they have the same ruggedness.

Other little scenes are also suggestive of mediterranean countries, such as this tiny walled garden around the church

I can't think of a better place for lunch.

The local wildlife is very cute. This is a quokka, a small marsupial related to the kangaroo.

I hope I have convinced you that I have been visiting the mediterranean in my absence.

Yep, I'll buy it! You should have made us guess to see if any one could actually tell the difference! Makes me think we should get our act together and head over there soon.
Happy Easter, Di!
