The tree bearing these gorgeous flowers is in our driveway and I have no idea what it is. I think it is from the tropics so in our climate it does not do all that well and could hardly be called an attractive specimen. What it lacks in appearance, it makes up for when it bursts into flower at this time of the year. I couldn't resist picking a few blooms to bring inside. They won't last long but will give me pleasure for a day or so.
Does anyone know the name of this tree?

Looks as if it belongs to the hibiscus family. It is beautiful and a gorgeous colour!
