Lilly Pilly

My new lilly pilly tree bears very little resemblance to the real thing, but I do think it is much prettier.

I bought the pattern to make this little wall hanging a long time ago, but it was put to one side when I began the mystery quilt marathon. Now that the mystery quilt is reaching its final stages, I thought it was time to make a start on lilly pilly.

The trunk of the tree and the little birds have all been appliqued down and 155 leaves have been made and are now ready to be sewn on to the background fabric. It did take ages to make these, but I am looking forward to the stitching process. They are currently being held in place by tiny drops of basting glue.

It is certainly very colourful and already I love how it looks.
