A transformation

Sorry about the hiatus. I seem to have been really busy, but I can't say I have much to show for my busyness.

The littlest one has had her big day and she looked adorable in her new dress. The stress of making it left me exhausted, especially as I got near to the end. I was terrified I would do something silly and ruin all my efforts. It was a very simple pattern, but it still made me nervous. All I could think about was the cost of the original dress and what a mess I was making of it. When I agreed to make the christening gown, I told Mandy that she would have to make the first cut into her beautiful dress as I didn't think I would be brave enough to do it. Of course, when the time came she was nowhere to be found and it was with a very shaky hand that I picked up the scissors.

This is the journey of a dress. From this:

then this:

and finally this:

When it was all finished Michael said that he couldn't think of a better use for Mandy's wedding dress and I felt much better.

Dearest you have done a lovely job of making something new from 'old' - it is beautiful and I am sure it will be treasured even more now. It was a lovely idea to have mother and daughter wear the same material for such momentous and special occasions. Maybe now you could recycle more of the original dress into, well, let's think ... a little bag, a sunhat - the list goes on! xx
