I got a surprise when I saw that my blueberry plant was already flowering. I thought that wouldn't happen until the Spring, but a quick Google search reassured me that it is normal.
However, I also learnt that the plant needs very cold weather in order to set fruit. I hope that the cold mornings we are having this week will be enough to get the job done.
These beautiful tiny white flowers make me think of a little girl's bonnet.
I am trying not to get too excited about the prospect of blueberries, but I can't help hoping.

I got a blueberry bush last year from a stall at the farmers market at the South(?) Freo High School. It was a low chill variety and it did very well in Hami Hill. I only wish I didn't neglect it this past summer and kill it :(
I must get another, the mornings out in the wheat belt are freezing!... hmm, I wonder it it would be cold enough out here for cherries to set???
